As this decade comes to a close, I look back at the last 10 years of my life. A lot of my friends were around age 13 when this decade started, and I was 14 the last time the Yankees won the World Series in 2000. Now they have a chance to win their second title in this decade, stealing the title of “Team of the Decade” from the Red Sox or Phillies. If the Yankees beat the Phillies in the 2009 World Series, they will have 2 championships this decade in 4 World Series appearances, as opposed to the Red Sox who have 2 championships in 2 World Series appearances. If the Phillies win, they will tie the Red Sox in World Series titles this decade and presumably share the crown. I’ve made a list of the previous “Team of the Decade” champions:
1900s Chicage Cubs: 2 titles in 3 appearances
1910s Boston Red Sox: 4 titles in 4 appearances
1920s New York Yankees: 3 titles in 6 appearances
1930s New York Yankees: 5 titles in 5 appearances
1940s New York Yankees: 4 titles in 5 appearances
1950s New York Yankees: 6 titles in 8 appearances
1960s New York Yankees: 2 titles in 5 appearances
1970s Oakland Athletics: 3 titles in 3 appearances
1980s Los Angeles Dodgers: 2 titles in 2 appearances
1990s New York Yankees: 3 titles in 3 appearances
*2000s Either Red Sox/Phillies both 2 titles in 2 appearances
Or Yankees: 2 titles in 4 appearances
Naturally, the team with the most World Series titles is the winner, but the team with the most appearances in the World Series wins any tie-breakers.

- I'm a musician from Yonkers, NY. I started playing in rock bands first, but now play other styles (rock, pop, hip-hop) as a One Man Band. I also write music in different styles and produce beats for hip-hop and videogames. Music is a huge part of my life.
